In yet the latest sign of the mainstream travel industry’s embrace of the gig economy, JetBlue is now awarding TrueBlue points for Lyft rides.
Offer Details
Effective immediately, TrueBlue members who link their accounts with their Lyft accounts can earn 30 JetBlue points for every Lyft Classic, Plus, or Premier ride to or from the airport, up to a maximum of 1,200 points per year.
New Lyft customers who sign up via this link will earn a welcome bonus of either 750 bonus TrueBlue points or a $15 credit toward their first ride.
Deal or No Deal
TrueBlue points are worth around 1.2 cents apiece, so 30 points are worth a paltry 36 cents. And the 750-point new-member bonus is worth around $9.
The restriction to airport rides further diminishes the value of this tie-up. And the annual earning limit – 1,200 points, worth $14.40 – is a negative as well.
There’s not much to get excited about here. While new earning opportunities are always to be welcomed, the points awarded for Lyft rides border on the laughably insignificant.
Beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. But just barely.
