I’m not a fan of flash sales or flash promotions. I understand the motivation from the travel suppliers’ standpoint, but snooze-you-lose offers are manipulative and disrespectful.
That doesn’t mean they don’t sometimes represent great value, as does this bonus-points offer from JetBlue announced this morning.
Offer Details
Members of JetBlue’s TrueBlue program can earn triple base points for all flights flown during the month of June.
But to participate, you must register for the promotion and book flights by the end of the day, May 25.
Deal or No Deal
TrueBlue members normally earn three base points per dollar, plus additional points for flights booked on jetblue.com, so the total earning rate increases to six points per dollar for Blue fares, seven points for BluePlus fares, eight points for BlueFlex fares, and six points for Mint.
With the promotion, the base points are tripled, so the total earnings for a Blue fare, for example, would be 12 points per dollar.
That’s a nice bonus, to be sure. Not so nice: forcing TrueBlue members to rush their travel planning.

Am I alone in being annoyed by offers that force customers to respond in haste?
