With revenue-based earning and high-priced awards, it’s not easy to get good value from Delta’s SkyMiles program. Periodic award sales, like this one, offer a welcome opportunity to tilt the value equation back in favor of the consumer.
Through August 25, SkyMiles members can book discounted award tickets to Europe, in coach or business class, for travel between September 23, 2016, and April 6, 2017.
With the discount, roundtrip award travel in coach is available for as few as 49,000 miles; business class roundtrips fall as low as 102,000 miles. The discounts are not offered on all Europe routes, and there are blackout dates, so you’ll have to use Delta’s booking app to check pricing for specific cities and travel dates.
Deal or No Deal
The discounts, where available, typically amount to 18 percent. That’s a significant savings.
The travel window, at more than six months, is a generous one, giving would-be travelers more than enough flexibility in scheduling their trips.
While the discounts are limited to specific routes, and there are blackout dates, there are plenty of desirable destinations to choose from.
The biggest downside of this promotion is the limited booking window. With just a week to discover the offer and plan an overseas trip, many SkyMiles members are sure to miss out on a great opportunity.
