From Best Western: 1,000 Bonus Points Per Stay

This fall’s crop of hotel promotions has been notably lackluster. The latest from Best Western is no exception.

Offer Details

Between September 12 and November 20, Best Western Rewards members can earn 1,000 bonus points for every eligible Best Western stay booked on the company’s website or mobile app.

Registration is required.

During the same period, but separately, there’s a savings of “up to 15% at participating hotels” on stays at the Advance Purchase rate.

Deal or No Deal

The normal earning rate with Best Western Rewards is 10 points per $1 spent. So a $100 stay would earn 1,000 points, and the 1,000-point bonus would double the earnings. Double points are hardly a game-changer, but at least they apply from the first stay and may be earned an unlimited number of times.

On the other hand, the promotion period itself is unusually short, at just over two months.

As for the discounted rates, the “up to” and “participating hotels” qualifiers mean that the savings are hardly a sure thing. Maybe a discount, maybe not; maybe 15 percent, maybe much less. You’ll have to check to confirm, property by property.

Best Western partisans should certainly take advantage of the bonus, in the spirit of taking what you can get. But the promotion isn’t likely to move the needle for brand-agnostic travelers. And it shouldn’t.
